History

Kyrgyzstan wealthy in history dating back to the first millennium BC. The territory of Kyrgyzstan was always the main motive for tribal wars, lots of troops such as Genghis - Khan, traversed the region and left here traces of their culture during the ages.

On the territory of Kyrgyzstan there were found 5000-year-old stone writings and the 3000-year-old town of Osh point at the fact that first people have been living thousands of years ago here. The nomadic Kyrgyz tribes are some of the ancient tribes inhabiting in the territory of Central Asia and they came here about couple thousand years ago. They moved to the south descending from the Siberian region along the Yenisey river and they well-known the Kyrgyz Khanate at the beginning of the 9th century.

The Khanate of Karakhanids was established by the Persian tribes during the 10th century. One of the most important cities was the town named Balasaguni, known as the capital of this statement and can be visited even today. You can see the Burana tower there. It takes you only 1 hour to drive from Bishkek in order to visit it.

The area was conquered by Genghis Khan in the 13 th century there comes into existence the great Mongolian Empire. After the death of the influential emperor named Mongke the Khanate was alienated into many small kingdoms, and the region of today's Kyrgyzstan was a part of the Chagatai Khanate.

Later it was transferred into the Kokand Khanate, ruled by Uzbeks the region became part of the Russian Empire after a revolt in 1873 - 1874, and it joined to the Soviet Union subsequent the October Revolution  since 1936.

The country declared its independence in 1991, August, 31, and since then it is known as the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
